You can hardly find in one location so many game elsewhere in the world. Almost all participating hunters have succeeded in killing a trophy argali, and satisfaction among hunters is very high. Threats to future health of the argali herd include livestock grazing, placer mining, hard rock mining, oil development, and inundation of prime habitat by a reservoir with associated development of a dam and aqueduct providing irrigation water to neighboring counties. With appropriate measures, the hunting area has high potential to become a model for self-funded conservation areas within China; however, its contribution to conservation is presently minor.
